Cycling Biking Birthday Sayings Quotes

BLUFF

The works / Oscar Muñoz process drawing and photography are made as performance, resulting in images that require the presence of the viewer to complete or stabilize, and remain in a precarious balance between existence and invisibility. Works such as daffodils, Breath, Drills, Ambulatory Lacrimarios or transformed in the course of the exhibition, often due to the action of active public appearance with her body or degradation of the image. The presence of time, which in previous works was given by the procedural nature of the pieces, is exacerbated in the recent work of Muñoz through the use of video.

Lacrimarios
Re / treatment is, as its title suggests, a reflection on the (self-) portrait, but also on the record and intent. The video loop shows an image that is constructed so laborious and constant, without respite and without end (at) apparent. But the medium (water) and support (a slab heated by the sun) conspire against the precarious stability of this face, and act to remove the image in the act of build. The line repeats the features of identity in a futile attempt to define the face, set it once and for all, but the image, ephemeral, stubbornly away. As in the myth of Sisyphus, the hand made hard work knowing that the fruit of this effort will be lost irretrievably, always returning to the starting point in a double act of frustration and tenacity.

Re / treatment
The ephemeral and spectral appearance of an image had been worked on Breath (1995), a work that foreshadows - and establishes a bridge - between two of the new works presented in this Exposure: Re / treatment and Palimpsest. Breath is a series of metallic mirrors arranged at the height of the observer. When the viewer breathes on them, they reveal the faces of strangers who are part of the image itself for a moment and then disappear. Palimpsest, meanwhile, is a two-sided mirror which have been removed much of the reflective surface. Through the deletion in the mirror (due to systematic scratched the surface of silver - which is where there is a mirror image), you can see another in the act of looking symmetrical (is) watching. The physiology of vision prevents the eye from focusing both images simultaneously, thus care the observer oscillates constantly between the reflected image and the image perceived through the mirror. If there is someone on the other side, as noted by Muñoz, "their faces are superimposed on the mirror surface, ie each one is in the other."
